Meet Friends and Dine with Family
Our coffee shop has been designed as a destination for our residents and their families. We regularly hold coffee mornings to create opportunities to meet up with other residents.
Our residents often enjoy a drink before dinner, catch up on what’s in the newspapers or sit and warm themselves by the real log fire. On a Tuesday nights we hold a quiz in the coffee shop hosted by one of our activities coordinators. On sunny days residents can sit outside and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a cream tea.

New Friends and New Horizons
Walk around Fonthill House on any given day and you can enjoy a drink and a light bite at our coffee shop (which is open to relatives and friends) or visit the music lounge where you might see a resident playing the piano. Alternatively, pop into our bright art studio to see some of our wonderful artistic creations on show. Outside, in the Fonthill gardens (opened by Charlie Dimmock) you might find some of our residents tending the rose bushes.
All of this bustle, fun and camaraderie is in stark contrast to the isolation, loneliness and lack of support that many elderly people can feel while living at home alone. Instead of a single visit from a carer each day, Fonthill residents find themselves immersed in a real community with beneficial effects for physical fitness and state of mind.

Music Lounge
Our music lounge is host to a variety of live musical performances, including talented brother and sister musicians Edmund and Elisa Jeffery. On Monday nights our choir, the Fonthill Nightingales, get together for a very relaxed sing-a-long. The U3A (University of the Third Age) host monthly classical music appreciation meetings where residents can spend the afternoon enjoying the music followed by a discussion.

Bedrooms
Our private rooms are always equipped with the correct bed for you. We use specialist beds and high-grade pressure relieving mattresses for residents with high care needs and more homely divans for residents with low needs. Each bedroom has a its own call bell system to enable residents to request assistance from care staff or room service. Every room has a smart TV and high speed WiFi to enable the use of FaceTime to keep in touch with family.
Luxurious Bedrooms at Fonthill House
We are a home for anyone over the age of 18 who requires nursing or residential care – long or short stay. Since Fonthill House opened 12 years ago, our team has gained an excellent reputation, thus extending our initial goal of caring for older adults to providing the same high standard for younger adults as well.
Our facilities for young adults
Fonthill House appeals to younger people and their families because it is a purpose built, light and airy building with large communal rooms — better likened to a “high-end hotel” than to an institution.
To build on the exciting range of activities run day-to-day, Fonthill House is currently undergoing adaptations to incorporate a sensory area and stage. We also have facility for virtual reality experiences which has proven to be an excellent distraction and source of pleasure to young people. At Fonthill House, we have access to a disability vehicle allowing us to arrange day trips to local attractions and ensuring our young people have as much fun as possible.

Hairdressing & Manicures
Our in house hairdresser quickly gets to know our residents and how they prefer to have their hair styled. We also offer a luxury manicure service. Make your appointment in the hair salon and we will take care of the rest.

Roof Terrace and Gardens
Fonthill House is surrounded by three separate gardens and has a roof terrace on the first floor. During the summer months we have regular outdoor activities including gardening club.
Our annual summer fete showcases the work created throughout the year by the residents in our art classes. The residents generously sell their work and donate the proceeds to charity.
Specialist care staff
Our nursing staff are also fully competent at PEG/PEJ feeding regimes and seizure management and are closely aligned with all other health professionals to ensure that the standard of care is seamless.
Many of the carers at Fonthill House are passionate about working with this age group so have developed exceptional skills and successful approaches to communication.
The sophisticated, secure IT systems at Fonthill House enable clear communication between staff and family members so that even if not physically present, families will still feel very involved in the lives of their young adult.
