Reports To: Head of Maintenance:

We are looking for someone to join our team working between the hours of 8am-5pm. We require someone who is flexible – they will be required to drive our residents and staff to appointments when needed.

Job Purpose for Maintenance Member:

As part of the maintenance team, you are responsible for the maintenance of the interior and the exterior of the home and grounds. Your duties will include:

Reporting any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture / equipment and any other potential
hazards to the head of maintenance, who will advise accordingly.
Assisting in the general repair and maintenance of the home both externally and internally to promote
effective operation and service.
Maintenance of the home’s grounds to an acceptable standard in order to promote a pleasant and safe
environment for residents, staff and visitors.
Carrying out decoration as and when required in order to maintain the standard of home.
Understanding and ensuring the implementation of the home’s health and safety, infection control and
hygiene policies, and emergency and fire procedures.
Promoting safe working practice in the Home.

Job Purpose for Driver:

As the Driver, you are responsible for the safe, comfortable and punctual transportation of residents and staff in the Fonthill Care Ltd company vehicle. Your duties will include:

Driving residents to and from GP, hospital and other medical appointments.
Driving residents to and from home.
Taking residents on recreational trips.
Driving visitors and residents’ families to and from their home to visit Fonthill House.

Training and Development for Both Roles:

Attending mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
Maintaining professional knowledge and competence.

Health and Safety:

To ensure the safe transportation of residents and staff to their destination and return to the home.
Understanding and ensuring the implementation of the home’s health and safety, infection control and hygiene policies, and emergency and fire procedures.
Promoting safe working practice in the home.
Making sure that chemicals/equipment are used correctly and safety procedures adhered to at all times.
Informing the home manager or person in charge of any visit to the home by contractors. Record the visit in appropriate file.

General:

Contributing to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of your role in relation to the home’s safeguarding adults policy, taking steps to protects residents from any form of abuse or neglect and use the appropriate reporting mechanisms to inform the home’s management of any concerns.
Adhering to all new local and central government initiatives as and when they are implemented.
Promoting and ensuring the good reputation of the home.
Ensuring that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
Notifying the home manager, or the person in charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
Adhering to all company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
Carrying out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
Being available for advice/action in emergencies that may arise out of hours unless there are circumstances that make this impossible.
Where a ‘fault’ cannot be rectified, providing details of the fault to the home manager/person in charge as soon as possible so that services are not disrupted for lengthy periods and appropriate instructions can be given regarding action to take.

Skills/Qualifications:

Knowledge of health and safety, particularly moving and handling techniques.
Hold a full driving licence.
Display a positive and flexible aptitude to team working.
Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude towards the residents.
